About Live to Play

Live to Play brings the Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour to theaters across the West and Midwest — ten cities this season, from North Bend to Cleveland. We started as the events arm of Mountain Gear, and when the shop closed in 2020 we kept the tour going as our connection to the outdoor community.

Every stop is built with local partners: nonprofits working on the rivers, trails, and wild places near you, and the outdoor shops that keep you out there. A night at the films is a night with your people — and a little something back to the places you play.

About the Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour

In 1976, a small group of climbers in Banff, Alberta, got together to share mountaineering films. That one-day gathering grew into the nine-day Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival, and its World Tour now carries the year's best adventure, culture, and environmental films to hundreds of communities around the world. The 2026-27 season marks the festival's 51st year — come see what's new.
